I love getting out of the city. This weekend we drove four hours North to my aunt and uncle's cottage.
We had quiet mornings, wonderful meals, plenty of wine, and I savoured every minute spent outside.
We hiked deep into the woods in rubber boots down unworn paths and no paths at all. My aunt and I stretched in the morning sun out on the dock and went for a run together. My mom and I worked on my book. John and I spent a lot of time in the kitchen, making everything from perfect potatoes and steak to big egg scrambles and bacon for everyone.
Easy Cottage Guacamole (serves a large group)
This recipe is almost too easy to post, but every time I make it people ask me to share the secret to its success. So if you've got a big crowd and little time to spare, here's an easy guacamole that won't dissapoint.
- 3 ripe avocados
- 3 tbsp sour cream (or mayo, or greek yogurt)
- tbsp chili powder
- 1 cup fresh salsa
