Caffeinated in Vancouver
Probably my favourite coffee shop in Vancouver. A cozy spot in Chinatown filled with the owner's collection of cycling memorabilia. When I've got a big day ahead I indulge in their four shot almond milk lattes and am the happiest caffeinated camper. Bonus points for gluten-free treats!
A cute little cafe located on East Hastings run by a Japanese family. Beautifully brewed coffee served with little sweet treats. Healthy lunch options available too.
One of my favourite interiors in Vancouver. The space is modelled after a British train station circa 1900, complete with bench seating, antique light fixtures, big clocks, period signage, and a “roof” installation. They brew a nice Stumptown (I like to take a bag home with me) and have reliable wi-fi if you need to set up and work.
Cute little hipster cafe with high ceilings and walls and lots of natural light. A perfect cappuccino to take for a stroll on Commercial Drive.
This place is a hipster's paradise with a New York feel. The baristas are sweet, the beans are high-quality and the flat whites are just right.
Nelson the Seagull
More than anything I love the interior of this space, especially the original chipped mosaic floor. They source as much local and organic produce as they can and I've heard their crusty loaves of bread are to die for.
A micro roastery opened by three dudes who were sick of their jobs and loved coffee. The coffee is high quality, the interior is minimal, modern and bright and the staff is great. Always an interesting home brew on drip.
Dose Espresso Bar
This pocket sized coffee shop on Broadway isn't messing around when it comes to coffee. Quick friendly service, top notch latte art and a quality espresso. They also do fun flavoured coffees like Nutella Mochas which may put off some purists (but I think it's kind of great).
An unpretentious cafe that really knows their coffee. A guy with a ponytail and a gold tooth named Chili came up to me here and showed me mocha latte art before telling me that "coffee shops are the new bars."
Caffe Cittadella is located in a 19th-century heritage house and has a charming staff and interior.
Lost + Found Cafe
A great relaxed, communal creative space where you can work with your laptop for hours, check out some local art and drink a good cup of coffee. Nice lunch items too.
Unpretentious little coffee shop where you can sit outside on a sunny day. My friend and I both live on South Granville and have started a routine of grabbing iced Americanos and walking over the Burrard street bridge downtown in total bliss.
Top of the line pastries and desserts and 49th Parallel coffee in an intimate, very European little cafe.
On my to-try list:
Finch's Tea and Coffee House, 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, East Van Roasters, Caffe Brixton, Kafka's, Coco et Olive, East Cafe, Ethical Bean (Hastings-Sunrise), Matchstick
