It hasn't been long since my last trip to California, but you have to take these opportunities when they arise.
And even though I'm now home and sick with stomach problems (damn you gluten, or tacos) I don't regret a single bite of this trip.
Long distance relationships are hard, but this one is worth working for. As a bonus these visits provide me with sunshine and the opportunity to see my other loved ones in California. This trip started with cozy days in Carmel, and ended with a whirlwind weekend in San Anselmo and San Francisco to see my beau's grandmother, my cousin and her family, and my close friend from the South of France.
Our last stop before returning to Carmel was Point Reyes, where I had the incredible opportunity to visit Lacey from The Road is Life. After over ten years of following each others adventures and keeping in touch online, I tracked her down at a Meadery where she works. It felt like reuniting with an old friend.
I think Hemmingway summed this one up best...
“We ate well and cheaply and drank well and cheaply and slept well and warm together and loved each other.”
And while my stomach suffers now, I'll be damned if I don't travel, eat, drink, live and love well as often as possible.
